Women Tea Pluckers distressed by badly implemented Creche Houses

Community Correspondents Harihar Nagbanshi reports on bad implementation of Creche Houses at Tea Gardens in Alipurduar, West Bengal. In this report he showcases two of the hundreds of Creche houses that have malfunctioned.

The Creche houses were established by tea garden management committee to provide nutrition and day care for the children of the women working in the Tea Gardens while the women are at work. However this is not the case at these creche homes. There is no one who attends the children at this house nor there are any basic facilities such as Drinking Water, Nutrition, and Electricty provided.

More than 60% labourers at tea Gardens are Women and thus the need for well functioning creche homes is clearly justified.

The report is a clear depiction of the fact, Harihar and his family women lives through as they are tea garden workers themselves.
